Thread: ubuntu overwrites my iptables settings

hi all.

have ubuntu 10.04 on desktop computer.
while ago noticed couldn't connect website need use, using particular port (not port 80). annoying.

noticed couldn't ssh in desktop.

no matter did ufw, firewall wouldn't permit use of target ports. iptables ignores whatever instructions give ufw. removed ufw.

flushed , cleared of iptables chains , rules. used online service generate iptables script. script allows use of whatever ports want, includeing ssh.

however, 10 minutes after run script installs desired iptables rules, old rules kick in. return dead , block ssh , whatever else want use.

frustrating. can't work when operating system abitrarily decides stop me connecting things in way want , need.

why happen?
do ubuntu keep iptables rules want, , not add other rules?

have tried
code:
sudo ufw disable
