Thread: Problem with external screen on Natty
hello,
have lenovo thinkpad t410 connected benq 24" external monitor via vga. combination worked brilliantly on lucid , maverick, since unity experience big problems on every single reboot!
without external screen connected, unity starts fine on thinkpad, nothing complain.
when boot while external monitor connected, works fine until log in (until that, cloned picture on both displays, external screen , thinkpad display).
after log in, thinkpad displays turns off (as intended), external screen starts flickering. when try bring desktop thinkpad display pressing fn-f7, end black screen , mouse pointer (so, screen turned on, desktop seems not displayed).
thing can in situation switch text console (ctrl-alt-f1) , reboot systems game starts again....
found 2 workarounds:
1.) disconnect external monitor physically while booting
2.) turn off external screen fn-f7 fast enough after logging in , before unity starts desktop on thinkpad display.
after having desktop established on thinkpad display, can start "monitors" , set screens desired (which external screen on 1920x1080, thinkpad screen off) , can close lid of thinkpad afterwards.
however, takes me 2 3 reboots every day until system working required. quite annoying...
idea how solve problem?
thanks,
bye
marcus.
