My RAM dilemma

so, finished editing machine build (thread here) has gone except 1 troubling problem. explain involve bit of story, please bear me:

when took motherboard out of box, examined it, of course. saw peculiar reflections of light in socket ("uh oh," say) made me wonder if wrong couple of pins. however, after closer examination couldn't determine sure if wrong, assumed trick of light , continued on merry way.

fast forward , have finished build; boots beautifully , runs charm. partway through driver installs/setup/etc, notice system recognizing 24 gigs of ram, instead of 32 installed. figuring must not have seated 1 of dimms correctly reset all; no go. after spending couple hours troubleshooting ram , researching, can pretty safely conclude not ram @ fault. unfortunately, start finding references bent socket pins causing memory problems, when remember reflections of light saw.

removing cpu , examining closer yet, determine yes, 2 individual socket pins awry. 1 slighty bent out of position, other looks half of missing. leads me suspect fault behind failure recognize memory.

here dilemma. newegg , asus not deal bent pins. fix or replace board end costing me additional $100-260 , several weeks of time. unfortunately, machine needed project starting in timeframe, , need turn attention other aspects of project.

finally, question forum: how significant of performance hit take in cs 5.5 premiere , after effects using 24 gigs of ram instead of 32 in 2011 socket system, time-being @ least? can deal 10-20% performance loss even, considering system still 150% faster (at minimum!) it's replacing.

nightmare.

thank

kristofor

you not find difference between 24 , 32 gb of ram.  make sure test system with memtst x86+.
