Sizing images for use in InDesign
i'm creating ebook in indesign cs5.5. i'm planning export pdf, viewing on laptops , tablets (i designed page fit ipad2, @ 187 x 250mm, idea work on other devices too). extent 128pp, , half , half text , photographs - i'm including on 300 colour pix. i've been designing picture pages in lightroom 4's print module, , @ moment they're still raw files (2592 x 3872px; 16.7mb).
i need export them jpegs can add them indesign file. i'm not sure size(s) export them at. should differentiate between going used full-page , quarter-page or less? or can rely on indesign resize them proportionally when later export pdf?
does have advice best sizes use @ stage? lightroom allows me specify quality jpeg, , longest edge size in pixels; or resolution in ppi.
i'd grateful advice on parameters set when ask indesign convert file pdf. i'm planning offer sale website, , worried (1) file size big downloading , (on other hand) (2) picture files compressed they'll pixellate if zooms them.
hope can help!
place them high-res tiff files.
when export pdf can specify if downsample images.
reason placing tiff b e coudl repurpose file printing.or other devices.
no need reduce resolution before placing - can on outpu choose resolution want device.
res ipad 2 = 1024x768 resolution @ 132 pixels per inch (ppi)
as long images 132 ppi should fine.
your document size should 1024x768 (or vice versa)
