it's been year since first saw error, perhaps more, because might have started in karmic, , in lucid. happens when try playing vedeo files of kinds - flvs, avis, mp4s, not all. istead of starting play video, totem pops notification box saying "failed create output image buffer of yyyxyyy pixels
". other players mplayer or vlc don't have problem.
have fix?

if try launching totem terminal, output this:

some shady web sources suggest changing values of kernel.shmmax , kernel.shmall, tried, problem remains.
