i trying bring sky in these photos without altering bride in foreground, or other objects, aside sky. admittedly didn't expose sky , stop difference between foreground , background quite drastic. there 3 pictures. first show overall picture , we're dealing (i've "locally adjusted" majority of sky method 2 below). second picture show sample of artifacts , fringing. third picture shows sample of halo situation.

i have tried 2 things:

1) gradient filter - of saying in head, not appropiate in scenario messes foreground (the bride intersects on of sky, neccessary to drag down on her), point drop in exposure intense bring back. doesn't work.

2) local adjustment brush - tried thing, auto mask on , off both painting , erasing afterwords, different feathering, no feathering, different brush sizes, etc. nothing have tried leaves me satisfactory final product, say, no ringing artifacts, fringing or halos around boarder of bride meets sky. lost should do! there little information available in other forum posts, , of information available basic @ best suggestions like: "turn on/off auto-mask". becoming growing irritation have photograph , 1 screwed on exposure , burried sky.

suggestions, , solutions please , thanks!

hopefully has answers out there...

if wanna fix in heartbeat, suggest using nx2 - u-point or 2 in sky tied adjustment or two, , problem fixed, in matter of seconds.

or if prefer, photoshop + nik plugin(s).

however, lr4 can fix nicely too, without work.

secret?

do not use auto-mask - doesn't work well.

but notice: foreground has no highlights, if confine local adjustment (mostly) -highlights, can brush around bride (overlapping) without affecting her.

i use (the minus sign means: negative):

-exposure (a small amount)

-highlights (a large amount, or as necessary)

-contrast (a medium amount)

for type of thing.

also, picture, consider dropping global contrast, if haven't got down as care too. ditto highlights (negative).

and drop exposure down too, , bump shadows up, , take blacks down.

if things, may find locals in sky unnecessary.
