Thread: Installed Ubuntu 11.04 on External HDD

as title says installed ubuntu on external hdd. windows 7 installed on internal hdd.

neither operating system load unless external plugged in.

when try boot without external says "device long string of random letters , numbers not found"

under says 'grub rescue' , gives option put commands in.

(this on black , white screen think it's called command line interface?)

bad part is, eternal not usb powered. wont recognized bios on start up. way me boot after restart wont boot shutdown. way can boot external after shutdown boot linux install cd first reset installation wizard.


above information^^ facts bellow i'll put assumptions.

assume device grub refers external hdd. assume grub has on ridden windows load manager.

main os care windows. how can make computer boot windows without external. don't care if need rid of linux, have computer can single boot from.

i know have do, have no clue how it.

ubuntu uses bootloader known grub. since grub part of ubuntu, need have external hard drive because linux installation on external drive.

change bootloader windows 7 loader, , add option ubuntu it.

had similar problem before wanted add linux windows 7 bootloader , use it. result: gave because couldn't find information , formatted hard drive.

if can figure out how this, should have no problem external hard drive.

Multilanguage infinite redirect loop error. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

trim media limit reached

hello,   i have installed adobe premiere cs 6....and have trouble videos transitions----->cross disolve. normally not problem, when drag , drop videos transitions, can't drag transitions longer in sequence without comment :trim media limit reached.... so can't work on transition.........   how can solve it, should don't find it...   thanks help.......... you cant make transition past end of source clip.  ie dont have enough media.   transitions made overlapping media .   someone post image illustrates this.
