PP5.5 very slow on brand new iMac

i have seen number of threads similar this, none have been helpful.

 

i purchased brand new 21.5" imac late last year.

processor 2.8 ghz intel core i7

memory 12 gb 1333 mhz ddr3

 

installed cs5.5, , found pretty slow. got more ram. hav 12gb of ram. saw improvement, it's still slow. premiere worst. when press play, on low-res video footage, takes couple seconds start playing.

 

i clicked project settings, , renderer, "mercury playback engine software only" option grayed out.

 

i looked @ threads... , apparently have manually set graphics card or that? know nothing that.

 

have had enough of this. frusterating. sold in pp5.5's speed, , has been extremely slow.

any suggestions? thanks!

your 2011 imac has amd (formerly ati) gpu - , cannot upgrade or replace @ all. worse, premiere pro cs5.5 not support opencl @ gpu acceleration in mpe engine (cs5.5 supports cuda, used recent nvidia gpus, gpu acceleration). worst of all, imac's gpu has 512mb of dedicated graphics ram. , because imac not have enough dedicated graphics ram, premiere pro permanently locked mpe software-only mode.

Multilanguage infinite redirect loop error. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

trim media limit reached

hello,   i have installed adobe premiere cs 6....and have trouble videos transitions----->cross disolve. normally not problem, when drag , drop videos transitions, can't drag transitions longer in sequence without comment :trim media limit reached.... so can't work on transition.........   how can solve it, should don't find it...   thanks help.......... you cant make transition past end of source clip.  ie dont have enough media.   transitions made overlapping media .   someone post image illustrates this.
