Distribute small number of iPad only app to company employees

i running through requirements of app client , 1 of questions have relates how app distributed.

 

initially app used small number of employees (most 3 or 4 users).

 

i not think makes sense release app via app store , therefore wondered alternatives are. know there ad-hoc distribution believe testing , app expires.

 

i read enterprise developer accounts appears client require , client not developer. perhaps possible client register enterprise developer account , add me developer? assuming flash air apps suitable enterprise distribution.

 

any advice on how best distribute app appreciated. perhaps there simpler way distribute this?

ad hoc provisioning expire, it's many months later. can't remember sure if it's 3, 6, or 12, it's quite while. build contract provide update app , then? refresh period.

 

another option have client iphone developer account, use when build app. real advantage app last year, , expire if client doesn't renew developer license.
