Thread: hd 1080 video are crappy despite the new hardware
dear all
make new desktop pc (asus p8p67 motherboard, core i5 2500, 8gb ram , nvidia gtx570).
had old ati , watch 720p. @ least watch smoothly.
new video card not work well.
installed nvidia proprietary drivers (i use ubuntu 11.04 64bit) , vlc , mplayer not play videos in 720 , 1080. when fast scenes occurring can see horizontal lines. reproduction not smooth , that's annoying.
xbmc has same issue.
tried install following (i saw post in forum)
but vlc same, mplayer on slow , xbmc (in xbmc not move mouse)code:libvdpau1 nvidia-185-libvdpau
delete above described packages , instaled following 1 (as read topic)

not expert here, gt200 powers 2 1080p monitors , don't problem. presumably hardware better.
video source? playing hd dvd or loading through network? if you're trying watch online video suspect you'll have quality problems @ least part of time.
if you're watching source on hard disk should good.
i'm not using proprietary driver, because darned thing won't turn on. have no idea how it, i've followed instructions thing shows "installed not used." maybe try using nv driver?
