Best practice to code PHP/JavaScript in Joomla - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
i'm new joomla , looking develop website has tonne of functionalities don't fit "content management" framework joomla intended for. having played around few weeks noticed how geared towards contents using articles.
it possible search plugins, components, or modules may suit need. however, in doing this, limited else's creativity.
i'd rather not start on empty plate leverage of templates, modules, , able customise these readily available components few clicks of button. however, in times when want add own functionality, need learn how create own extension?
is there proper way me write php/javascript/css codes site?
i know there "sourcerer" plugin allows 1 inject codes article itself. safe? hinder performance in long run?
i know there "chronoform" plugin allow me write , read database. however, find it's lacking few things wanted, example, wanted animation when click on drop down , open dynamic drop down it.
for example, site has friends section spanning on several pages. i've got pages laid out article pages conceptualise functionality. envision site require querying friend's information database, friend information specific purpose of site - fitness. can't find made extension powerful enough let me own specification. suggest in case? inject codes article, or create extension this?

one option go 1 of cck's available joomla, can't of them because couldn't manage of them because of weird complexity, templating, etc etc, , it's seems need bit of time driven properly. on other side it's quite easier invest time understand component built , mvc goes flow.
by creating component may threat main firepower, point send requests done, application's heart i'd say. depending on page shape need know few things menu links, modules etc. don't have give component tons of options, give as need , other users might want see.
of course need php skills, full control on app , you're driven joomla standard routines may help, not:)
