Frontend author problem - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i've set user publisher permissions , set login form on home page. when log in using username , password, pen & paper icon appears, should take authoring page, doesn't. when click on icon, pop-up menu appears edit module, member login , position: sidecol-a.

if click on edit module, take me backend. i've examined login module, can't see problem is. seems malfunction, new me. did set create article menu item, can author, don't want authors getting backend.

any suggestions appreciated.

front end access works menu items category list or category blog see 'new' button appear, new articles can added. works users edit existing articles assigned menu. however, backend access required create new menu item - i'm talking default settings here! front end access not take user generic author page allows editing of existing articles or addition of new ones in category lists or category blogs.

the icons appear on menu positions user identify module name , position make easier find, takes user login page.
