Thread: DG834G - AOL - Ubuntu
background
i’ve been happily using dg834g, aol, ubuntu; changed our line provider kept aol; find cannot access internet (dns error).
after telling me not support linux, aol helpline not particularly helpful, told me reset router; , putting in new settings , call netgear - netgear particularly un-obliging , not give me settings did not support router!
q. can tell settings need use, , how go solving problem (the complete amateur/kiddies version please). – alternatively point me older post answer.

welcome forum.
tempted advise find isp, particularly if aol unhelpline told reset router. among other things blanks out dsl username , password fields means won't able connect adsl service until filled in again.
need answers few questions.
1 - country in?
2 - changed line provider. whom whom? in uk if change bt talktalk, example, nothing physically done line. i'm surprised internet failed coincident this.
3 - have aol adsl internet username , password? (don't post them!) in internet connections details in account page in aol website (if can it). alternatively, can ask aol, , pray speak brain in gear. username looks vaguely email address '@' in it.
4 - know netgear router login details - username , password? these different above. if never reset them, or if have reset router, they'll default ones, , can come that.
5 - exact dns error got? did see it?
way, don't think netgear being deliberately unobliging. cannot tell without adsl username , password have aol.
