Adobe Install with SSD Suggestions Needed
built new system on holidays win7 64 bit. bought academic/student version of production premium suite, have 'trial' version installed until adobe approves credentials , sends me activation code. system has ssd, want keep 'clean' os, , hard drive want store apps , data.
i changed registry make program files folder no longer point c:\ drive (the ssd) , hard drive, d:\.
apparently, not 'supported' change adobe, encountering configuration error 1. looking through web, found these discussions:
http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_cs6_extende...
those discussions little dated, i'm hoping people in forum have discovered better methods have adobe suite work when 'program files' folder has been changed c:\ drive. here current thoughts:
1) adobe fixed issue update.
i can't find evidence of this, don't think has been fixed. hesitate add updates , keep running bug. know if has been fixed?
2) copy of 'common files' c:\ drive d:\ drive, explained in 1 of posts.
i did this. interestingly, adobe install put of 64 bit apps on d:\ drive, can't run them. keep getting asked if want register or later. when click 'later', asks me again. so, have think looking on c:\ drive not there. adobe install put of 32-bit apps on c:\ drive (so ignored registry change). moved d:\ drive , these working, wonder else encounter down road.
3) change registry entries point c:\ drive.
i have installed other programs (that installed fine d:\ drive, way), hesitate switching c:\ disrupt of links. if have go down path, uninstall everything, , re-install.
4) other suggestions?
this reason post. listed possible solutions know of above, wondering if else has better work around.

i surprised adobe hardcoding of installation paths. why registry exists , standard pathnames (i.e. %programfiles%) defined in first place. ignore choices plain poor programming.
i realize 5 years now, ssds cheaper , in tb range, but, currently, not uncommon people limit installed on them due size. so, know not alone in configuration desire, , not alone in encountering problem adobe. i'm surprised has not been fixed (and should have been programmed way in first place).

you can install ps on drive, can not move files c location. there files installed on c drive or else program not function. also, bridge if not have temp on c bridge have problems until come out wtih fix.
now have moved files have totally fouled system. suggest uninstall, run adobe script cleaner , reinstall drive want on.
