Thread: Static IP on a local network?
is there anyway achieve static ip on local network? often, when have reboot ubuntu machine, or when have reboot routers, computers assigned different ips (the last digit).
i'm running ubuntu 11.04 , if matters, have older apple tear-drop g wireless router configured wds apple express router. apple express router connected ubuntu machine through ethernet.
network has 3 ubuntu machines (2 desktops, 1 laptop), 3 windows machines (1 desktop, 2 laptops) , 1 mac (laptop) , various devices printer, ps3 , slingbox -all on same network, though need 1 computer retain same ip address. possible?
purpose behind need (in case there different or better solution), access ubuntu machine (databases, ftp, http, etc..) other computers on network , having reconfigure every time ip changes quite cumbersome.
surely, there has solution, right? , appreciated.
you can. sure ip addresses outside range used dhcp server in router. click network manager icon, edit connections , set attached. post if need more details.
