Thread: Printing to CUPS server via Windows 7
okay i've been scouring interwebs answer here, , far i've followed every instruction no luck.
i've got lexmark x2500 installed in cups - works , prints locally hacked x2600 drivers (see this - took modifications because lexmark changed package structure, that's discussion). far i've tried add printer in windows 7 samba , i've had host of errors there, decided try cups ipp. far can connect printer , looks fine, nothing ever makes cups queue. entering correct url printer when set in windows. read 1 forum having same issue, offer check url - url <> uri yeah no there...
i'm seeing in logs:
e [13/aug/2011:14:09:43 -0700] missing printer-uri, job-uri, or ppd-name attribute!
e [13/aug/2011:14:09:43 -0700] returning ipp client-error-bad-request windows-ext (no uri) 10.69.81.3

ipp totally borked in windows or there i'm missing in cups config? sharing options enabled , permissions set allow lan.
anyway if has ideas, it'd appreciated! temporary issue anyway...i need ink wifi printer works wonderfully everything...at point it's more matter of wanting solve issue or chalk horrible ipp implementation in windows 7. has got windows 7 printing cups? again input appreciated!
yes, have printing working windows 7 through virtualbox usb connection canon ip4300 printer. however, had change settings in samba with:-
terminal...
gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
in printers section :-
###
load printers = yes
###;
printing = cups
###;
printcap name = cups
###
use client driver = yes
save , restart samba. sudo /etc/init.d/smb restart
on windows 7 computer, add printer.
