Thread: New User needs assistance changing brightness settings on Laptop
hi folks, new ubuntu , linux in general. first time poster. got new laptop gateway nv59c, , installed ubuntu onto it. duel boots windows , type can removed windows application, off topic want clarify exact version.
problem having, common 1 cannot life of me figure out how change brightness settings lcd monitor. i've searched high , low on internet searching ways information no avail. fn , nither brightness keys or using fn or down nothing change brightness. changing brightness via windows 7 doesn't change brightness when ubuntu active. have ubuntu on desktop , no issue in changing brightness, laptop can see different story.
there universal sudo code or terminal input command regardless of brand/model of laptop? information or appreciated.

if u click ubuntu logo on top left, search "screensaver" screen saver program shud b listed. open that, sumwer on tht "power management" click that, , should give options brightness , similar things.....
***note*** (for record)the ubuntu installed windows program called "wubi" , less stable installing onto hard drive os on own, perhaps causing issues....
