Absolute links within .pdf problem - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
hi all, i'm having problems link handling within .pdf document on intranet server using joomla 2.5.
firstly create excel sheet excel sheet has internal hyperlinks within it, these internal hyperlinks point network mapped drives contain other .pdf documents, each hyperlink automatically starts file:///\\ when created in excel, network mapped drive internal hyperlinks within excel sheet following: file:///\\svr99\public\confined space register\confined space register worksheets\confined space register.pdf these can not changed must sit @ location.
the excel sheet converted .pdf.
once .pdf has been uploaded intranet webserver url .pdf looks http://10.0.0.000/imsv2/documents/artic ... gister.pdf
now if hyperlink clicked inside .pdf process following url: http://svr99/public/confined%20space%20 ... gister.pdf
you notice browser (internet explorer) automatically change url http:// @ beginning rather file:///\\ needed create absolute url, convert entire url forward slashes instead of backslashes , replaces spaces %20 incorrect trying arrive @ network mapped drive location. should point absolute url looks file:///\\svr99\public\confined space register\confined space register worksheets\confined space register.pdf.
so recap need hyperlinks within .pdf stay absolute , not alter because of browser.
i believe internet explorer not recognize file:///\\ directory path automatically changes http://. if base hyperlink starts file:\\ rather file:///\\ internet explorer recognize directory , processes url correctly. unfortunately client uses excel , excel automatically corrects file:\\ file:///\\ using different software create document not option. when paste file:///\\svr99\public\confined space register\confined space register worksheets\confined space register.pdf address tab processes fine changes url \\svr99\public\confined space register\confined space register worksheets\confined space register.pdf. if remove file:///\\ excel automatically place in there again.
