Thread: Issue with opening files on my external hard disk

hi,
i'm new ubuntu, installed today. have version 11.04 (natty) running alongside windows xp using wubi.
since internal hard disk rather small (40gb), have of files stored on 1tb external hard disk. on ubuntu works great except things associated external disk. every time try open it, save file or import files banshee, shotwell, etc. experience enormous lag , end having force quit. never had problem when using windows xp. know might causing , how fix it?

what connection hd have?

noticed 'wubi' in title. still stands, although wubi's transition phase, it's not reliable. if you're enjoying ubuntu, suggest virtualbox, can share files windows, or dual boot. although 40gb, that's not good, either. have considered internal hard drive?

Multilanguage infinite redirect loop error. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

lately i've been trying out lots of old windows games (on cd's bought legally) have lying around on wine heck of it. 5 or 6 years old , many don't run on windows 7! been hit or miss. what's worked reliably install game on old windows xp desktop, this: copy relevant folder in program files (for example: c:/program files/warcraft iii) of windows computer usb stick. paste in linux directory (anywhere) configure wine d: drive point @ d: drive, ex: /media/warcraft iii/ find promising .exe file in folder copied windows (like warcraft3.exe) , execute wine. , works charm games! however, in ubuntu think i've installed (while running linux, put cd drive, open installer, install) , run 1 program in linux successfully. happens this: cd automatically mounts, , configure wine's d: drive in /media/warcraft iii/ i'll run installer.exe wine wait game install, seems work fine next time try start game, says "please insert warcraft iii cd...
