Thread: Any Database gurus?

so i've been using, in end user, mysql number of apps. i've never had create/design. know i'm bit stuck in design problem.

i'm trying build database comparable salaries , benefits. organization , 15 20 others need compared , tracked.

data comes contracts. contracts annual , pay , benefits change year year. there 2 salary points , number of variable stipends track.

know need table define organizations, need break contracts 30 line items define data points.

there date, year year.

i'm stuck on design, not sure relationships , tables should have follow best practices.

once data in, custom queries show percentage changes , pull reports on specific line item contracts.

begin in design, suggestions, examples, or proper tutorial? i've been reading docs , googling tutorials , tech side makes sense. need getting started level of complexity.

hope make can share our sister organizations in other states or finger in right direction appropriated!

i not sure tables need. comparing , reporting can done once database has data using queries.

think need 'organizations' table:
id, orgname, ...

maybe 'users' table:
id, fname, lname, ...

, 'salary' table:
id, org_id, user_id, date_entered, salary_amount, ...
