Automatic Backups - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
greetings all,
i not sure put if not right place, please feel free move it.
i have linux server host bunch of joomla! websites on. of sites set akeeba backup can log backend of site , pull backup of site. time has rolled on, have accumulated bunch of clients hosting , automate backup system.
so, thought occured me:
1) set file on linux machine in office domains usernames , passwords in it.
2) set cron job automatically go file , work through list.
a) log site.
b) pull backup.
c) download backup , drop onto 2tb external drive
d) delete backup file server
this seems pretty simple in theory, but, long way being linux guru hope, perhaps 1 of folks might have idea of how accomplish this.
with regards,
ron

i know "rsync" - in linux , unix world, best friend unattended ups.
i had linode around year (a virtual server on linode.com)
and used rsync sites , sites of clients.
you can google -- there lots of great sites wonderful examples.
as said myself after learning rsync: "ftp? never again!"
by no stretch of imagination rsync guru -- used manually
and did not integrate cron job -- have guess.
