Thread: Kernel panic!

hey, installed ubuntu 11.04 on computer after alot of hassle 'burn disc slower' stuff. when try boot kernel panic, along lines of 'kernel-panic: unable mount: vfs unknown...' can't remember comes after unknown. , i've allready done chkdsk no bad results. i've been having problems alot, different distros not liking computer.
appreciated!
thanks,
taylor

i suggest booting computer livecd , pasting here contents of
code:
$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda
when asked password, hit enter.

then, mount /dev/sda as:
code:
$ sudo mount /dev/sda /mnt
paste here contents of file /mnt/etc/fstab. possible entirely issue between wrong drive numberings (for instance, have had issue gentoo installer labeling drives hda's instead of sda's).

also, best possible method of install, in honest opinion (or imho if will), booting usb drive method - no need burn cd, , if things go wrong, usb drive can re-prepared in matter of minutes.
