Thread: Ubuntu not liking my graphics card?

i had pny verto geforce fx 5200 (128mb, pci) graphics card while when had windows xp. decided switch ubuntu had many problems while doing it. after ubuntu done installing, need restart computer change take place. well, did turn monitor off pc stayed on. restarted manually , pc started came stop when time os start up. did show bunch of white boxes , black screen. found thought fix problem called boot repair. ran boot repair continued stop @ black screen. live-cd version of ubuntu working fine installed version not! after few days came idea graphical issue of sort. plugged monitor second input on nvidia card , saw purple screen , quick flashes of pictures. decided disable nvidia card , put on intel card built computer , ubuntu worked fine!! thought ubuntu recommended nvidia cards?? why isn't mine working??

also, if try switch nvidia card, screen goes black again... i'm new ubuntu. i've used windows , mac long time , ubuntu entirely new thing me please easy on noob

you thought wrong. ubuntu doesn't recommend card, works nvidia, ati , intel. not models @ same quality.

why isn't mine working??


have backup bit first after installed os did install/enable drivers? if not issue here. if card (i not nvidia expert here) bit older it's supposed use opensource drivers. perhaps here bug has workarround. it's hard description.

, finnally though screen blackk doesn't mean computer not working. if interrupted install process turning off manually might have corrupted install.

suggest reinstall, time propperly. enable drivers if in system - admin - hardware drivers menu. , don't turn off if working/doing something.

if card bit older might new interface not supported in case try ubutnu 10.04 , see if 1 works. supported until 2013 (lts= long term support) , version in between beta versions, should used if have newer hardware , if 10.04 giving issues. , try new

Multilanguage infinite redirect loop error. - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

trim media limit reached

hello,   i have installed adobe premiere cs 6....and have trouble videos transitions----->cross disolve. normally not problem, when drag , drop videos transitions, can't drag transitions longer in sequence without comment :trim media limit reached.... so can't work on transition.........   how can solve it, should don't find it...   thanks help.......... you cant make transition past end of source clip.  ie dont have enough media.   transitions made overlapping media .   someone post image illustrates this.
